MICROSHADING & MICROBLADING

fab - microblading - web.jpg

Microshading is a form of semi permanent makeup where pigment is deposited into the skin using a semi permanent makeup machine. Microblading deposits pigment into the skin using a very thin blade to mimic hairstrokes. It’s great for creating fuller looking filled in brows for those who struggle to grow brow hair of their own. It is also a time and money saver. Imagine having perfectly shaped brows and not have to fill them in the morning!

This service can last up to 2 years before fading. Other terms for Microshading are Shading are “Permanent Brow Tint, Powder Brows or Ombre Brows’. This is a better option for those with oily skin and is perfect for those who already have previous microblading and would like to cover it up. When Microblading and Shading are done together it is called Combination Brows. This is a very popular style  because it allows the brow to look filled in but still very natural.

After your procedure your brow will heal over the next 7-10 days depending on your skin. During this time your brows will start to dry up and go through many different phases. When they heal, they will lighten about 30 - 40%. Some clients will require a touch up to perfect their brows, which can be booked 6 weeks later.

Saline Tattoo/Pigment Removal

Whether you have old microblading that you would like to have lightened or you are unhappy with a recent service, saline tattoo removal is a safe an effective way to remove pigment. Saline removal is a much safer method than laser as you can get more work done once your brows are lightened/removed. Saline is implanted into the skin, breaks up old pigment and is pulled to the surface of the skin, which then scabs. Once the scab falls off, the pigment falls off as well, leaving a lightened tattoo. Depending on how fresh, deep and how dark the pigment is, several sessions may be required. Emergency removal can be done if this service is done within 48 hours. The sooner the better.

FAQ

Can I see the shape before you put them on me?

Definitely! I brow map your brows which is a process where we find the perfect shape to suit your brow structure and face shape. I only start with the shading once you are 100% happy with them. That is why I add more time to my services because I want to make sure the shape is perfect for you!

Can I put makeup on my brows during the patchy healing phase?

I don’t recommend putting makeup on them as they’re healing as you can cause an infection. Once the flaking and crusting is completely gone, you can go about your beauty routine as usual. Although you won’t need to put anything on them!

Does it hurt and will I bleed?

Due to the topical anesthetic that is used there is minimal discomfort. The outline is done without the anesthetic but it feels like very light scratching. Most clients do not bleed, but if they do it’s usually just a few dots here and there.

Will my tattoo heal a different colour?

Pigment has come a long way! The pigments I use have been proven not to go red or blue like the old pigment that was around when microblading first started. When administered properly into the skin, all Permablend pigments stay their true colour.

What is the healing process like?

The healing process takes about 7 to 10 days. Your brows will gradually get dry and darker as they are start to crust. During this time you will probably start to get concerned that your brows are not the colour and shape that you wanted. Don’t be alarmed! This is completely normal. They will then start to flake off and look patchy. Whatever you do, do not pick off the flakes as this could cause the pigment to not hold. Let them come off on their own. Once the flaking period is over your brows will look a bit lighter than you expected. Do not worry because they will get a bit darker afterwards. By day 14 your brows will be fully healed. From there if you decide you would like to go darker or there are some areas that did not hold as well, we will book you in a touch up. I recommend doing touch ups on 90 % of my clients as this is where we perfect the brow!

Can I do business as usual while my brows are healing?

Yes and no. You can go to work and do your day to day routine but you will have to avoid direct sunlight on your brows while they’re healing. You will also have to avoid sweating as the bacteria from your sweat can go into your brows and cause an infection and poor healing. I also tell my clients to be aware of how they sleep. Try to sleep on your back for the first 10 days just to assure that you don’t accidentally pull at the flakes in your sleep. When you shower, be sure to keep your face away from the shower stream. The only time we want them to get wet is when you are cleaning them with you gentle cleanser (not int the shower). Remember that the longer and warmer your shower is, the more steam is creates and steam is not good for your healing brows. You will also have to hold off using skincare products with active ingredients (retinol, glycolic, salicylic) for the healing process.

How do I care for my brows afterwards?

I will go through your aftercare with you during your procedure but just in case you forget here is a quick reference! You will wash your brows with a gentle soap (baby shampoo) morning and night. Create a lather in your hands and gently clean the brows. Give them a rinse with room temperature water and very gently pat them dry with paper towel (not a towel). Once they are fully dry, apply a thin layer of the ointment I gave you at your booking. Do this for the first week and see how your brows are doing after that. Most people can stop the ointment and cleansing at this point.

Besides for my touch up, how often should I get my brows refreshed?

The shading method lasts much longer than other styles of micropigmentation. The answer to this question will determine on the desired look. If you like a bolder looking brow, you might need to come in and do a colour refresher at the 1 year mark. If you like soft powdery brows, then come in 1.5 years to 2 years apart. That being said, every brow is different and sometimes skin can reject colour which means your brows will lighten faster than others. Brow makeup can be used to help achieve your ideal brow if this happens. The integrity of your skin is very important to us so it is best to not do colour freshers too often, if not necessary. Remember, this service is to make your life easier. It will not permanently replace your brow makeup.
